Keystone Symposia is offering scholarships to Students and Post-docs of ethnic origin who are underrepresented in the life sciences community. These scholarships, of up to $1,200 each, are to be used to help defray the expenses associated with conference attendance, including meeting registration, air and ground transportation, and lodging costs. Receipts will be required to receive reimbursement.
Applications may be submitted for both a Keystone Symposia Scholarship and an Underrepresented Minority Scholarship; however, only one scholarship can be awarded.
Eligibility
To be eligible for an Underrepresented Minority Scholarship, you must be:
- A U.S. citizen or Resident Alien with a Green Card
- A graduate or post-doctoral student currently enrolled in an academic program
- One of the following ethnic origins:
- Hispanic/Latino
- Black/African American
- American Indian/Alaska Native
- Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander
- Bicultural (claims parental heritage to one of the above populations in the United States)
Review Criteria
Criteria for Abstract Review:
- Relevance to the meeting topic
- Significance of the scientific question and results
- Style
- Organization (e.g. the abstract has a clear beginning, middle and end)
- Grammar and spelling
- Clarity of scientific presentations
- Clear question or hypothesis
- Sufficient background
- The experimental approach and rationale for the approach are clear
- The results are clearly presented
- The interpretation and conclusions are reasonable and logical
