General Information/Weather
The Banff Centre, nestled in the majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains, is a scenic 75-mile (120 km) drive from Calgary International Airport. Banff and neighboring Lake Louise were settled in 1882 and have been attracting visitors for over 100 years. The Banff Centre, designed to resemble a college campus, hosts a variety of activities such as an extensive fitness facility (a full gym, indoor climbing wall, full size indoor pool and massage). A 10-minute snowy walk from The Banff Centre finds you in the internationally diverse township of Banff. The town is home to many fine restaurants and excellent shopping options, as well as coffee houses and bookstores. A complimentary ski shuttle will be arranged daily offering access to Alpine, Telemark Skiing, and Snowboarding. Although not necessary in Banff, a rental vehicle would allow for other ski options in the area and further exploration of the local natural wonders such as the Upper Banff Hot Springs. Too many possibilities lie in wait to name here; please see the visitors web site at www.banfflakelouise.com or www.banffcentre.ca for more information on activities.

· Tip #1: Banff Centre accommodations are separate from the meeting rooms and food functions. A short walk outside will be necessary.
· Tip #2: Beware there is a per person fee/charge for entrance into Banff National Park. The charge is included in shuttle prices but private cars will have to pay separately.
· Tip #3: Suggestion: Use the message board at the meeting to find other conferees interested in additional activities (skiing, snowboarding, hiking, cross country skiing, shopping, sight seeing etc.) by posting your contact information and activity of interest. Check the message board.
· Tip #4: For Visa and Entry Information visit http://www.traveldocs.com/ca/vr.htm. For a listing of countries whose citizens require visas to enter Canada http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp

Food/Dining Notes: The food included will be: buffet breakfast (each day of the meeting except departure day) coffee breaks, and social hour with light snacks during poster sessions. However the food offered varies meeting site by meeting site. Menus for daily food offered will be posted as well as menus for the area.

 Important Additional Information:
