These companies may tell you that the meeting is filling and seek to take your lodging reservation and obtain your credit card number. We highly recommend that you not make a reservation with these companies or any other housing service! These companies' representations to participants have been misleading. Please report to Keystone Symposia any calls or correspondence you might have received and book only through the lodging link on our website, an established travel agency, or directly with the hotel.

Tours for Keystone Symposia attendees: Sagebrush Inn creates small tours for the Keystone Symposia conferees. These tours are conducted by long-time locals with a great love of the area.

Sign-ups are available at the meeting. Fees will vary but will include transportation. Lunch will be an extra cost.

Here are some examples:
  • Hike and Wine Brisk walk on the high desert, sights include Petrogylphs. Then a brief stop at local wineries for some wine tasting. Tennis Shoes are sufficient but don't forget your winter coats, hats and gloves.
  • Tour of Taos Take a tour of one of the oldest inhabited Indian Pueblo, then travel to the Gorge Bridge, and the Millicent Roger's Museum. A gem of southwest artifacts. Also includes stops at various galleries and shops on the way.
  • Bandelier National Monument and Bradbury Museum Visit an ancient civilization that occupied the Southwest 10,000 to 12,000 years ago. Then travel onto the Museum that has approximately 40 interactive exhibits that trace the history of the WWII Manhattan Project, highlight the Laboratory's current and historic research projects related to defense and technology, and focus on laboratory research related to national and international economic, environmental, political, and social concerns. Don't forget your winter coats, hats, boots and gloves.

Suggestion: To find other attendees who may want to join you in activities, use the message board located near the Registration Desk. Post your contact information and activity of interest, and be sure to check the message board during the meeting for posts by fellow attendees.
Not a skier? Downtown Taos is a shuttle or rental car ride away from Sagebrush Inn... there you will find unique shops, great local cuisine, book stores and plenty of historical landmarks.

Other Car/Taxi required A trip to Taos is not complete without an excursion to Taos Pueblo located about a 15 minute drive from the Sagebrush. It has been the home to the native people for over 1000 years continuously and is open year round for visitors. For more information, visit Taos Pueblo
Hiking Car/Taxi required Hiking trails at the Rio Grande Bridge or the mountains below the ski area are quickly reached by private car. Rent a vehicle in town for further exploration of the Taos area.
Skiing Car/Taxi required FREE Shuttle/Bus available Taos Ski Area is 40 minutes from Taos. A free shuttle will be provided for your convenience. Taos Ski Area closes in April. Meetings held in Taos in April will NOT have skiing available.

Keystone Symposia provides shuttle transportation to Taos Ski Valley.

Enchanted Forest offers cross country skiing for those attendees who have a vehicle.

Family members can also receive lift ticket discounts; please inquire at the Keystone Symposia Registration Desk for details. Tickets prices are subject to change.

Ski storage/lockers: Attendees who rent from Taos Ski Valley are welcome to keep skis and snowboards at the Taos Ski Valley Ski Lockers, located at the base area, free of charge for as many days as the equipment is rented. Attendees who bring their own equipment may also use Taos Ski Valley storage lockers.

Equipment rentals:  Discount rentals are available at Taos Ski Valley. Various discounts on per-day rental packages are available as follows:

Attendees will need to show valid KS ID Badge in order to receive the discounted rate.

Ski Area Notes:  Driving to Taos Ski Valley takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Taos Ski Valley closes in April.

Ski School discounts are available to Keystone Symposia attendees with valid KS ID Badge!

Adult Ski School:
Taos Ski Valley offers group lessons for all ability levels above beginner. Classes begin at 9:45 AM every day. A 2-hour group lesson is $60. Private lessons are available; please call the ski school to reserve your space at 575-776-2291 ext. 2355.

Never skied or boarded before? Try our Yellowbird/board Package. A full day package includes 4 hours of lessons, a beginner lift ticket and sport rentals. Yellowbird/board: One day $130, Two day $170.
