Summary of Meeting:

Abstract/Scholarship Deadline: January 27, 2006
Early Registration Deadline: January 27, 2006

The Division of AIDS (DAIDS) and the Division of Allergy, Immunology and Transplantation (DAIT), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) are jointly sponsoring a workshop in conjunction with the Keystone Symposia (March 26-April 2, 2006) "HIV Pathogenesis" and "HIV Vaccines".

The objective of the Workshop is to attract basic immunologists to HIV/AIDS research. The workshop will include talks on the challenges in HIV immunology, pathogenesis and vaccine research and knowledge gaps, NIAID funding opportunities, the NIH grant process, and tips on writing a successful grant application. Pathways for career development and the most appropriate funding mechanisms for new and foreign investigators will be discussed. The format is expected to provide opportunities to network and promote collaboration with leading HIV/AIDS immunologists.

In addition, hands-on computer training sessions on HIV sequence and immunology data bases will be sponsored. A "Meet with the Experts" luncheon session, held during the Symposia will allow Workshop participants to meet and interact with Symposia speakers in a small, informal setting. The Workshop participants will have the access to entire Keystone Symposia sessions.

A limited number of scholarships up to $1500 will be available for students, fellows, and new investigators in basic immunology research outside the HIV/AIDS field. Workshop attendance will be limited to 150 participants. Registration will be on first-come-first serve basis.
