Summary of Meeting:
Apoptosis is an important process for the removal of damaged or unwanted cells and when dysregulated can lead to several diseases. Recently, much has been learned about the biochemical pathways involved in programmed cell death as well as the three-dimensional structures of the proteins in these signaling pathways. In addition, data are emerging on how apoptosis is triggered and how late stage events in apoptosis are carried out. However, it will be important to learn how to utilize this information to better understand the role of apoptosis in disease and how to develop therapeutic agents to treat diseases caused by abberent cell death. In this Keystone Symposium, new biochemical pathways, three-dimensional structures, and information on early and late stage events in apoptosis will be discussed. The contribution of programmed cell death to disease and therapeutic approaches for treating these disorders will also be covered.
Discounted Abstract Deadline: October 8 2002
Discounted Registration Deadline: December 9 2002
