Cell Migration in Invasion and Inflammation
Organizer(s): John Condeelis and John H. Hartwig
Date: February 12 - 17, 2008
Location: Sagebrush Inn & Suites, Taos, NM, USA
Supported by the Director's Fund
Summary of Meeting:
Cell migration is involved in events as diverse as embryogenesis, inflammation, wound healing, immunity, and disease states such as cancer and chronic inflammatory disease including arthritis. The last decade has witnessed astounding progress in our understanding of cell migration at the molecular and cellular levels including the discovery of the signaling pathways involved and gene expression patterns required for coordinated cell migration in vivo. This progress has stimulated new ideas about how cell migration itself, and interactions between migratory leukocytes and somatic cells, contribute to normal tissue homeostasis, inflammation and metastasis. This meeting will bring together leading investigators in the fields of cell motility, signaling, invasion and inflammation to explore the molecular and cellular events involved in cell migration as it contributes to invasion and inflammation.
