Molecular Biology of the Vasculature
joint with Atherothrombosis
Organizer(s): Michael E. Mendelsohn and Bradford C. Berk
Date: April 02 - 07, 2006
Location: Keystone Resort, Keystone, CO, USA
Supported by The Director's Fund
Summary of Meeting:
Vascular diseases are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in western society. The Molecular Biology of the Vasculature Keystone Symposium is intended to be the premier international meeting of molecular scientists studying vascular biology, with an emphasis on discussions of our current understanding of the molecular regulation and dysfunction of vascular cells in cardiovascular biology. The objective of this meeting is to promote lively interchange between the field's leading experts, younger scientists and trainees in a relaxed setting conducive to discussions, with an emphasis on the inclusion of under-represented groups. Leading scientists in molecular vascular biology will address critical issues in the field at present, and will share newly emerging and unpublished data in these areas, including the latest findings regarding vascular genetics and genomics, vascular function in health and disease, molecular endothelial and smooth muscle cell biology, molecular regulation of vascular tone, and vascular pathobiology. The Symposium is intended to provide participants with an integrated, state-of-the-art view of the molecular mechanisms regulating blood vessel functions in health and disease.
