DNA and RNA Methylation Organizer(s): Chuan He and Ting Wang Date: January 21 - 25, 2018 Location: Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Vancouver, BC, CanadaThe eukaryotic genome and transcriptome are not merely a static combination of A, T, C, G and U. Reversible DNA methylation is known to contribute significantly to gene expression regulation. In recent years, dynamic RNA methylation has also emerged as a major mode of post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. DNA and RNA methylation is a field which is revolutionizing our knowledge on how the human genome functions, how cellular and environmental signals and stresses impact gene expression through DNA and RNA methylation, and how these inform our understanding of human disease mechanisms. This conference brings together an international group of scientists to present and discuss the emergence of and new developments in epigenomics/epitranscriptomics and their impacts on basic biology as well as human diseases, with a focus on DNA and RNA methylation. In addition, the conference provides hands-on workshops for junior and established scientists on key sequencing and computational methodologies and resources for epigenomics/epitranscriptomics research. These components will ultimately catalyze DNA and RNA methylation research and accelerate the pace of discovery. The conference will advance knowledge in the field by bringing together scientists who apply epigenomics/epitranscriptomics research to understand basic biology and human disease, thus catalyzing adoption of epigenomic/epitranscriptomic methods. Finally, it will foster scientific interactions that will ultimately accelerate the pace of discovery across multiple basic and disease-focused research areas.
