Molecular Control of Adipogenesis and Obesity (J3)

Organizer(s) Jeffrey M. Friedman, Bruce M. Spiegelman and Jan Nedergaard
January 10—16, 2002
Keystone Resort • Keystone, Colorado USA
Abstract Deadline: Oct 1, 2001
Late Abstract Deadline:
Scholarship Deadline:
Early Registration Deadline: Nov 12, 2001

Sponsored by Pfizer Global Research and Development

Summary of Meeting:
There are several exciting hot topics: the transcriptional control of fat cell formation, the divergence of white versus brown fat, control pathways of regulation of food intake, thermogenesis pathways, and regulation of lipid synthesis. The pivotal problems are how energy metabolism is regulated and dysregulated. This is among the most common medical problems in the industrial world. These meetings will bring together world leaders of academia and industry to join forces in attacking these problems. It is a real strength that this meeting will be held concurrently with Diabetes/Insulin Action.
