Curtis Henry, PhD
Deputy Associate Director of Engagement, Access, and Success
The University of Colorado Cancer Center

Dr. Henry received his PhD from Wake Forest University School of Medicine under the guidance of Dr. Elizabeth Hiltbold-Schwartz where he conducted research focusing on understanding how cytokines regulate T-cell-mediated protective immunity in the context of pathogenic infections. As a postdoctoral fellow and Research Instructor under the tutelage of Dr. James DeGregori at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, his research focused on dissecting how aging-associated inflammation impacted hematopoiesis and leukemia development.

In 2016, Dr. Henry joined the Department of Pediatrics and the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Emory University School of Medicine.  As an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, research in his group focused on delineating how cancer-promoting comorbidities (e.g. aging, obesity, etc.) impacted cancer development, responses to chemotherapies, and the efficacy/safety of immunotherapies.  In his new roles as the Deputy Associate Director of Engagement, Access, and Success at the University of Colorado Cancer Cener, Associate Professor of Immunology and Microbiology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, and the Margaret Turley Grohne Chair in Translational Cancer Research, Dr. Henry and his team will continue to conduct comorbidity-focused cancer research with the goal of developing novel therapeutic options for patients in these growing demographics.
