What makes Keystone Symposia conferences different?

Keystone Symposia convenes dynamic, open, peer-reviewed conferences on the leading frontiers of life science—spanning disciplines from genetics to immunology and beyond. Meetings bring together a diverse community of researchers across career stages—from emerging scientists and trainees to established leaders—as well as clinician scientists translating discoveries into practice, accelerating the movement of breakthroughs from bench to bedside. By uniting academic, government, nonprofit, and industry leaders in a spirit of collaboration, Keystone Symposia offers a one-of-a-kind environment to network, advance ideas, and drive scientific discovery forward.

What sets Keystone Symposia apart:

  • Discover breakthroughs: Access late-breaking, often unpublished science and innovative tools that drive research forward, in an open, trusted space.
  • Expand your network across disciplines and sectors: Build lasting collaborations in small, retreat-style settings designed for meaningful exchange across disciplines and career stages.
  • Accelerate your career: Stand shoulder-to-shoulder with legends by presenting posters or short talks, applying for scholarships and travel awards, and gaining guidance through career roundtables and mentorship.
  • Shape the field: Contribute your research while engaging with peers and emerging leaders to build the future of science.
  • Find inspiration: Experience collegial, cross-disciplinary gatherings in scenic environments that spark creativity and new directions. Enrich your experience through bonus programming in health equity series, women in science workshops, meet-the-editor roundtables, and panels on big-picture topics and funding opportunities.

Note that select joint conferences offer two-for-one registration value, and allow greater cross-collaborations and synergies between disciplines!

What people are saying:

“As a scientist and member of the biotech industry, I highly value the Keystone Symposia as one of the last venues of true open scientific dialogue spanning both academia and industry in the biological sciences, and am happy to be able to support this work.”
— Daniel A. Elkes, PhD, Chief Grants Officer, The Elkes Foundation
“One of the best, if not THE best, meeting I have attended. All sessions were of interest and the diversity (and quality) of research was stunning.”
— Anonymous comment from attendee survey, Cardiovascular Development and Regeneration
“I strongly feel that my attendance boosted my career through connecting and networking with peers and top scientists in the field. I actively contributed to discussion by asking questions directly to the speakers. My poster presentation and overall interactions through the conference were very useful. I thank you for giving me the opportunity to attend. I tremendously enjoyed it.”
— Susu Zughaier, PhD, Emory University School of Medicine, Global Health Travel Awardee
“I love these kinds of meetings, because at least half of the people you have not heard speak before, making the sessions even more interesting. On the practical side, my group came away with four new relationships with groups we had not met before. Two have resulted in substantial academic collaborations, and the other two were with representatives from two major pharma companies...”
— James Paulson, MD, Scripps Research Institute, Speaker
“This was my first Keystone Symposia meeting, and it far surpassed my wildest expectations.”
— Michael O. Thorner, MD, University of Virginia, Speaker
