Meeting Summary

The regulation of genome function through epigenetic mechanisms and 3D chromatin architecture is fundamental to development, physiology, and disease. Disruption of key epigenetic regulators—such as DNA and histone modifying enzymes, chromatin remodelers, and nuclear organizers---is increasingly linked to cancer, immune dysfunction, neurodevelopmental disorders, and aging-related decline. While epigenetic therapies and genome-editing tools are advancing toward the clinic, a deeper understanding of how these mechanisms govern cell fate and dysfunction is essential to unlocking new biological insights and developing more effective therapeutic strategies.

This Keystone Symposia conference on Epigenetics in Health and Disease will explore core themes including chromatin modifications and function, 3D genome architecture, epigenetic inheritance and plasticity, and chromatin dysregulation in disease. Sessions will also highlight emerging technologies, such as epigenome editing, single-cell and spatial profiling, and high-resolution genome imaging, and explore their impact on both mechanistic discovery and translational advances. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how epigenetic mechanisms can be targeted for diagnosis and therapy, as well as exposure to cutting-edge tools enabling these advances.

The meeting aims to immerse attendees in cutting-edge science while fostering cross-disciplinary exchange and collaboration by bringing together scientists across epigenetics, chromatin biology, developmental biology, disease research, drug discovery, and technology development. Its integration of fundamental biology with emerging therapeutic technologies positions it at the forefront of translating epigenetics into clinical application.
