Aicha BenTaieb, PhD

Aicha BenTaieb, Ph.D., is Director of Machine Learning and Sr Principal Machine Learning Scientist in the AI for Biology and Translation (AIBT) group at Genentech, where she leads a group that focuses on developing multimodal generative learning models for target identification and clinical translation. She completed her Ph.D. at Simon Fraser University, where her dissertation on machine learning for histopathology image analysis received the CIPPRS Doctoral Dissertation Award, and subsequently held roles at Roche and Tempus Labs before joining Genentech. Her research spans foundational machine learning methods, cell phenotyping, and the development of AI-driven tools to advance precision medicine and drug discovery.
Jakob Kather

Jakob N. Kather, M.D., M.Sc., is a W3 Professor of Clinical Artificial Intelligence at TU Dresden and a senior physician in medical oncology at University Hospital Dresden. His research focuses on developing deep learning-based approaches to extract actionable biomarkers from routine clinical data, including histopathology images, radiology, and clinical text, with a particular emphasis on gastrointestinal cancers and precision oncology. He has pioneered AI-based biomarker discovery in computational pathology and is leading European efforts to establish clinical guidelines for AI in oncology, including the ESMO EBAI and ELCAP initiatives. He is the recipient of an ERC Starting Grant and the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize from the German Research Foundation.
