Vijay G. Sankaran
Boston Children’s Hospital
Vijay G. Sankaran, M.D., Ph.D., is the Jan Ellen Paradise, MD Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and Boston Children’s Hospital, an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, an Attending Physician in the Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, and an Associate Member of the Broad Institute. His research focuses on how genetic differences affect blood and immune cell production, leading to new treatments for blood disorders like sickle cell disease and beta-thalassemia. Dr. Sankaran has received several prestigious awards and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation and the Association of American Physicians. Dr. Sankaran actively organizes scientific conferences and collaborations in hematopoiesis research.
Anna E. Beaudin, PhD
University of Utah School of Medicine
Anna Beaudin, Ph.D., is the John W. Athens and Georgia Athens Endowed Chair and Associate Professor and the Associate Chief of Research in the Division of Hematology and Hematologic Malignancies at the University of the Utah School of Medicine/Huntsman Cancer Institute. Dr. Beaudin directs the NIDDK-sponsored Cooperative Center for Excellence in Hematology and the National Central Coordinating Center for the NIDDK Hematology Program. Her lab studies how early life factors affect disease risk by examining fetal blood stem cells. Her research is funded by the NIH, the Pew Biomedical Scholars Award, and the Hellman Fellows Award. Dr. Beaudin is involved in leadership roles in various national and international hematology and immunology societies.
Esther Obeng
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
Esther Obeng, M.D., Ph.D., is an Assistant Member in the Divisions of Molecular Oncology and Experimental Hematology and an Attending Physician on the Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy Service at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Dr. Obeng created the first mouse model of the most common gene mutation in myelodysplastic syndrome. Her research focuses on understanding how genetic mutations lead to pre-leukemic conditions and clonal hematopoiesis and is studying the impact of these mutations in pediatric cancer survivors and sickle cell disease patients. Dr. Obeng is an active member of the national hematology community and actively participates in professional societies and conferences; recently serving as Chair of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) Scientific Committee on Myeloid Biology and the Scientific Program Co-Chair for the 2025 ASH Annual Meeting.
