Important Travel and Transportation Information

Air Transportation

Kansai International Airport (KIX) is the recommended airport for this conference. For specific airport information, visit the Kansai International Airport website.

Ground Transportation

Public Transportation is the recommended transfer option from the Kansai International Airport (KIX) to the Kyoto ICC and The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike Hotel.  KIX ACCESSMOOTHIE is Kansai International Airport’s official route-search tool. It finds the best way to or from KIX across trains, airport buses, the high-speed ferry, and taxis—showing routes, travel times, transfers, and fares in multiple languages.  It also provides helpful maps for each step of the way.  Visit the ACCESSMOOTHIE website to create your trip each way.  Enter the hotel or the venue as your 'Arrival' and select the date and time of arrival/departure.

The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike has put together a helpful document, with maps and step-by-step instructions, to explain the transit options from the airport and in the area.  Click here for the details.

Embassy & Visa Information

Due to the constantly changing nature of travel, we urge people to research their own travel requirements. This includes Passport and Visa requirements, documentation for re-entry into country of residence and any other identification needed. Please allow sufficient time in advance of the meeting for processing of all necessary documentation.

Be sure to confirm air and hotel arrangements at least 24 hours in advance of departure. As a reminder, never leave your wallet and passport unattended while traveling, and have photocopies of all identification and credit cards in case of theft or loss.

For short-term visits to Japan (up to 90 days), most travelers from countries such as the U.S., Canada, Australia, and much of Europe do not need a visa for tourism or business. You must have a valid passport for the duration of your stay; some airlines may require at least six months’ validity.

If your nationality is not part of Japan’s visa waiver program, you will need to apply for a visa in advance. Always confirm current requirements with the Japanese embassy or consulate before you travel.  Visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan website for more information regarding Visas.
