Meeting Summary
Systemic metabolism plays a critical role in controlling tumor development and offers new opportunities for cancer therapies. This conference will address topics that go beyond tumor metabolism – the subject of many meetings – and explore the reciprocal relationship between cancer and whole-body metabolism, this includes the microbiome, diet (including obesity, cachexia and antioxidants), aging and other metabolic diseases. The meeting will bring together disparate fields to consider the tumor in the context of the entire organism, broadening the scope and complexity of cancer metabolism research to generate novel insights with clinical impacts. By bringing together scientists and clinicians across siloed fields, we aim to inspire cross-disciplinary collaborations that will yield transformative treatment strategies and accelerate clinical advances.
