Virginia Pascual, MD

Virginia Pascual, M.D., is the inaugural Director of the Drukier Institute for Children’s Health Research at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Pascual’s research focuses on understanding the pathogenesis of and identifying biomarkers and therapeutic targets for inflammatory and autoimmune diseases that start in childhood. Dr. Pascual is currently the Program Director of an NIAID-funded U19 Autoimmunity Center of Excellence, a NIAMS-funded P50 Center of Research Translation, and a Lupus Research Alliance (LRA)-sponsored Global team Science Award, all of which focus on pediatric autoimmunity. She is the recipient of numerous awards and is a sought-after speaker. She has also long-standing experience in co-organizing Keystone Symposia and FOCIS meetings.
Raphaela Goldbach-Mansky, MD

Raphaela Goldbach-Mansky, M.D., MHS., is the Chief of the Translational Autoinflammatory Diseases Section (TADS) in the Laboratory of Clinical Immunology and Microbiology (LCIM) at NIH/NIAID. Dr. Goldbach-Mansky’s translational research program focuses on clinical and translational studies in children with early-onset autoinflammatory diseases. Her research applies an integrative approach to characterize the genetic and molecular causes of autoinflammatory diseases and to design studies to investigate the role of specific inflammatory pathways in the pathogenesis of autoinflammatory diseases. Her studies in patients with NOMID and DIRA established targeted treatments with IL-1 inhibitors as standard of care for these diseases. Dr. Goldbach-Mansky is a co-founder of the Translational Autoinflammatory Research Network (TARN) to promote translational research in patients with rare autoinflammatory diseases.

Veit Hornung, M.D., is Professor and Chair of Immunobiochemistry at the Gene Center of LMU Munich. His lab has a long-standing interest in innate immunity. His research focuses on how pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) recognize non-self nucleic acids to trigger immune responses, which has helped define the ‘molecular patterns’ concept, which provided valuable insights into the molecular mechanisms of innate immunity and created potential for therapeutic strategies for infectious, autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases. He has extensive experience in organizing large international meetings including the 2016 Keystone Symposia meeting “Nucleic Acid Sensing Pathways: Innate Immunity, Immunobiology and Therapeutics,” as well as several EMBO Workshops on Inflammasomes.

Richard Siegel, M.D., Ph.D., is the Global Head of Immunology at Novartis Biomedical Research, where he oversees the discovery of new therapeutics for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. His research focuses on immunology and autoimmunity, and he has made significant contributions to understanding the mechanisms of immune regulation and inflammation. He is the recipient of numerous honors and is committed to bridging the gap between laboratory and clinical research to discover new treatments and improve the lives of patients with autoimmune and inflammatory disease.
