William A. Zeiger, MD, PhD

William A. Zeiger, M.D., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of California Los Angeles. Dr. Zeiger is a practicing neurologist, with fellowship training in the diagnosis and management of movement disorders. Dr. Zeiger’s research utilizes multi-modal in vivo imaging approaches, circuit manipulations and custom behavioral assays to understand how the dysfunction of cortical circuits contributes to the symptoms and progression of neurological diseases. Dr. Zeiger’s research on the plasticity of circuits in the somatosensory cortex has helped prompt a critical reappraisal of long-held hypotheses about the neural circuit mechanisms of recovery after stroke. Dr. Zeiger also has an interest in the development and democratization of tools to facilitate in vivo imaging.
Mary Teena Joy, PhD
Jackson Laboratory
Mary Teena Joy, PhD., is an Assistant Professor at the Jackson Laboratory. Her lab focuses on uncovering molecular and circuit mechanisms of neural repair, with a particular focus on skilled motor control and its dysfunction after stroke, using integrative approaches including large-scale neural activity recordings, circuit and gene manipulations, ethological measurements of behavior, transcriptomics and drug studies to uncover translatable mechanisms of circuit repair.
Florence Bareyre, PhD
Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich
Florence M Bareyre, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Institute of Clinical Neuroimmunology and Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, Germany. Her research focuses on the molecular and cellular regulation of axonal plasticity following spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries, using in vivo imaging, circuit manipulation, gene therapy and behavioral evaluations to develop therapeutic interventions to improve functional recovery. Dr Bareyre’s lab is pioneering the development of AI-based tools for unbiased behavioral analysis, and her lab serves as a key resource for expertise in gene therapy and specific viral vectors.
