Trailblazing Research
Keystone Symposia on Molecular and Cellular Biology, headquartered in Silverthorne, Colorado, USA, is a nonprofit producer of 50-60 public, peer-reviewed conferences annually, across an array of life-science topics. Subjects bridge basic and clinical research spanning academic, industry and global health sectors to promote translational advances with medical impacts.
Conferences are held globally across six continents, with most meetings concentrated in mountain venues across the American and Canadian West. Scientific programs are designed by field experts and guided by Keystone Symposia’s organizational expertise with the goal of broadening participation and enlightening perspectives. Keystone Symposia meetings are known for maximizing networking across career stages while driving innovative and cross-disciplinary discussions and collaborations.
Keystone Symposia is dedicated to supporting all generations of research leaders, including through scholarships, travel awards and career-development opportunities for students and post-doctoral fellows who comprise approximately 40% of meeting attendees. The Program Enrichment portfolio additionally enhances each scientific conference through programming designed to build professional skillsets, showcase innovative scientific viewpoints and perspectives, and support the life-science workforce across all levels.
Intimate Locations
Known as the ‘Castle in the City,’ Fairmont Hotel Vancouver has been the pinnacle of elegance since its debut in 1939, when a visit by the British royal couple sealed its reputation as one of the most iconic luxury hotels in Vancouver. In 2024, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver was awarded in Condé Nast Traveler Magazine's annual coveted Gold List, the only Canadian hotel to receive this prestigious honour.
Our prime downtown location places you minutes from the city’s biggest attractions, including the Vancouver Art Gallery, Granville Island and the Vancouver Seawall. Stroll a few blocks for great shopping on Robson Street and in historic Gastown. Our knowledgeable concierge team is delighted to assist you with sightseeing suggestions and restaurant reservations.
Networking & Career Development Opportunities
Keystone Symposia hosts Career Roundtables at our conferences to support and train the next generation of scientific leaders. These workshops create a forum for experienced leaders to share their unique perspectives on career development, professional pitfalls, and the breadth of scientific opportunities available to support trainee scientists in an informal setting. Trainees and early-career investigators have the opportunity to interact with established researchers from a broad range of backgrounds and career paths for path-defining career development advice and networking opportunities.
“The most important message is that we all walk nonlinear paths and it is so easy to forget when we experience struggle or we look up at people in power position: it always looks so simpler on the other side…Thanks again for your investment on the trainees. Priceless investment on the present and future of science.”
–Valentina Greco, PhD, Carolyn Slayman Professor of Genetics, Yale School of Medicine
Meet-the-Editor RoundtablesMeet-the-Editor workshops – available at select meetings – foster connections between editors and scientists. Relationships forged during these events lead to publication for researchers while providing editors insight into new discoveries and cutting-edge research directions to showcase editorially. Attendees are encouraged to fast-track research insights to publication by attending the roundtables and contacting editors in attendance during the meeting. Check the full program for Meet-the-Editor events.
Health Equity ForumsHealth Equity Forums – offered at select meetings – engage conference participants in conversations that showcase how scientists are bringing molecular, cellular, and genetic approaches to bear on inclusive research design. Featured panel discussions and short talks at select Keystone Symposia meetings explore how recognizing human variation and taking patient-centered research approaches can advance precision treatment and improve health outcomes for the global population.
